The Museums and Galleries History Group (MGHG) exists to promote the study of the history and theory of museums and galleries. Membership is open to academics, students, museum workers, archivists, librarians and all those with an interest in the subject.

The MGHG will support and provide the following services:

• Website
• Database of research interests in the field of museum history and theory
• Triannual newsletter
• Seminars, events and conferences
• Forum for the exchange of information and ideas
